The ingredients needed to make Meat pies:
  1. Make ready 4 cups all purpose flour
  2. Make ready 2 tbspoons baking powder
  3. Get 250 g margarine
  4. Prepare Pinch salt
  5. Get 1.5 tbspoon sugar

  7. Prepare 1 . 5kg minced meat
  8. Take 4 cloves crushed saumu and ginger
  9. Take Leaves rosemary
  10. Take 6 pieces green leave onions

  14. Prepare Cooking oil
Instructions to make Meat pies:
  1. Marinate the minced meat using the crushed ginger and saumu and place the leaves of rosemary on top. You can marinate for 1 hr; my case I did overnight.
  2. For the dough mix the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Rub in margarine. Add water and knead for 10mins. Set aside.
  3. Into a cooking pan, heat the oil add the onions. Add carrots and let it cook. Add the minced meat and cook for 15mins. Set aside and return the leaves of rosemary to steam with the heat as it cools to retain the flavour.
  4. Roll out your dough in circle and apply bits of margarine. Fold and roll out again. Do this 3 times.
  5. Roll out and cut in circular shape.
  6. Preheat your oven to 175C.
  7. Add the cooled minced meat in the middle and fold. Press the edges with a fork. You can make any shapes you want. Oil and dust your baking tray.
  8. Beat the egg and apply the egg wash on the surface.
  9. Bake for 25mins or until it turns golden brown.
  10. Set aside to cool.
  11. Squeeze a fresh lemon to add to taste. Serve.
